What we do, organised by what gets delivered.

Engineering and manufacturing in one place. Four pillars, real deliverables, no mystery quotes.

§ 01

Four pillars. Real deliverables.

A2 / S01 · What we do

Engineering is the spine; design and manufacture attach to it. Each pillar is a distinct engagement with named outputs, so you always know what comes back.

01 · Product Design

  • Timeline, investment, RRP and quantity estimates
  • Concept sketches and ideation
  • Market positioning
  • 2D and 3D CAD
  • Marketing and product renders
  • Packaging design
  • Line art for patents

§ 02

What does it cost?

A2 / S02 · The honest answer

Scoped and quoted per project

Cast Iron CAD project work is scoped and quoted per project. There is no fixed menu, because no two products carry the same risk, complexity or route to manufacture. A scoping conversation produces a written agreement: the scope, the approach, and a cost band where the work allows. There’s no fee for the scoping conversation.

Full product developments typically run from about £15k to £50k and above, depending on complexity. Smaller pieces of work are welcome too: a drawing pack, a design change, a DFM or FEA check, a one-off part. We scope and quote those on their own, and they’re often a good way to start working together.

§ 03

Common questions.

A2 / S03 · Before you ask

Do you do design for manufacture?

Yes. DFM is a named deliverable inside the Engineering pillar: DFM-validated CAD comes out the other end of every engineering engagement. We work with named UK and overseas partners across plastics, metals, sheet metal, machining, casting and 3D printing. We do not hand a design off and hope; we own the bridge between design and manufacture.

Can you just make my product?

Yes, and it is a distinct engagement. Manufacture is the part of the work Cast Iron CAD is built around, not a bit we hand off: production drawings, a supplier shortlist, FAI oversight, tooling and MRP routing. We can supply through our manufacturing partners, with our markup disclosed, or hand a full production pack to your own factory, and we stay in the loop through supplier selection and pilot run.

How long does it take?

A simple part can reach production drawings in weeks; a product with tooling, testing or certification takes months. We set out the likely timeline at scoping.

Isn't it cheaper to hire a freelance CAD person?

Sometimes that is the right call, for light CAD, redraws, IP line drawings or renders. The Product Design pillar exists for exactly those cases. But cheap CAD does not buy a manufacturable product. The Engineering pillar is where a design becomes something a factory can actually build and quote.

I haven't validated my idea yet.

Then start upstream. Idea, discovery and validation are Innovate Engineer’s territory, the first half of the ten-stage journey. Cast Iron CAD works the second half: design through manufacture. See how it works.

Building a product? Start a conversation.

A scoping conversation produces a written agreement. We read where your project sits on the ten stages, agree the scope, and you decide what happens next.
